Do you like mountains and climbing them? Are you an English-speaker … looking for company to go to the mountains? Do you want to go there with internationals or other ex-pats?
If you have answered at least one question with yes: Great! Then why don’t you join the IMG of DAV Section Munich! We plan to "walk the talk" and discuss activities starting with a summer’s hike, continuing by via ferrata and finally ending up in the snow doing glacier- and ski-tours, too.
So we are a group of true alpine allrounders!
Want to be part of it?
The International Mountaineering Group (IMG)

On the occasion of the Sektion München's 150th birthday we came up with something special to actively help shape the year 2019 according to the theme "150": Geburtstags-Gipfel mit 1869 m, Geburtstags-Yoga am Berg, Geburtstagsgipfel-Wandermarathon
Have a look at the calendar below. Here you can find tours, courses and further events. Furthermore you can see which of them are still free to join in. For some appointments you can already use your Mein Alpenverein account to register for the event.
And now – go give it a look!
The "International Mountaineering Group" (IMG) is a division of the Munich section of the Deutscher Alpenverein DAV. With regard to all advertised tours and any other joint activities – unless otherwise described – are events from the Sektion München des DAV e. V.
The tours described in the program are joint ventures are not to be viewed as guided tours. The named contact person will voluntarily take care of any organizational requirements (meeting place/date/time etc.). This person is not responsible for the supervision of the group and for that reason each participant needs to judge his/her mountaineering capabilities for him/herself. Each participant is responsible for themselves.
Participants of these tours must be members of the DAV-Section Munich or a Plus-Member of the Section Oberland. By way of exception, members of other DAV sections or non-members may, for a nominal charge of € 2,50 per day, participate. For these first-timers, please be aware that no ASS insurance is offered/included.

Let's meet at Kriechbaumhof! Plan some mountaineering, hiking, klettersteigs, you name it! Bring ideas and dreams and let's make them happen.
Stubaier Alpen, Österreich
Middle difficulty hiking. Klettersteig Grad A/B with a single C area.

A beautiful tour of the Kalkkögel, known as the northern Tyrolean dolomites.
Starting in Fulpmes, we will ascend via the Schlick 2000 gondola to overcome the first 1000 Hm and then walk along the ridgeline to the Adolf Pichler Hütte. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to summit a peak and enjoy a nearby lake.
On the second day, we will cross the Kalkkögel, wandering in a high alpine landscape among the rugged peaks. Reaching the Alpenklubscharte, the group can complete the Steingrubenkogel Klettersteig (approx 1,25 hours round trip) with A/B difficulty and a single C pitch. From there, we will proceed along the Kalkkögel and descend on foot to our cars to return home.

Enthusiastic about mountaineering in various kinds: hiking, via ferrata, ski-touring and more! Furthermore you can meet me over a good cup of esrpesso – both in the city center of munich or on a mountain peak in the Alps ;-)
Looking foward to see you at one of our events or on a mountain tour!
Moutain Leader Award & DAV Wanderleiter
I'm from the UK, but have spent most of my life having all of my summers in the Alps. So I decided to move closer! I enjoy walking, via feratta, scrambling, climbing, trail running and skiing (or attempting to!)
Growing up in Spain I was often in the mountains. That’s where I go to be in contact with nature. Hiking, skiing, touring, climbing; whatever the mountains have planned for me that day.
I believe in “mountaineering” as an attitude in life. Do you agree with me? Come and join us.
deputy group leader
At the age of 20 years, I was the first Indian reaching the southpole on skies. Being motivated by this achievement, I went to northpole two years later ;-)
I was born in Ladakh and for several years part of an expedition team. Looking forward to share the international mountaineering experience with you!
I love the mountains throughout the year: hiking and glacier touring in summer, jumping into the lakes for swimming, mountainbiking in between and alpine skiing during winter times.
If you are also keen to reach new peaks, let’s go on a tour together!
Probably my life would be incomplete without the mountains. Rock climbing, mountaineering, via ferrata, ski touring and hiking is what gives the spice to my life.
From the Bolivian Andes now in the Alps, I look forward to share my passion with other enthusiasts, discover new places and have more adventures. Wanna join?
I like to sleep a little longer in the morning and get back to the car a little later, sometimes after dark. I have a neverending list of tour ideas and try to come up with variants of classic ones, for example to discover rarely used paths, nice photo spots, or some geocaches along the way.
As a result, activities with me tend to get a little more intense and demanding than usual and therefore I expect participants to be rational, aware of their limitations, and properly equipped.
Want to join my next tour?
Mountains are always calling me. I discovered the high hills big time in Scandinavian Lappland, and been busy ever since: I have been travelling or living in the Alps, Dolomites, Andes, Himalayas, Lyngen Alps and Caucasus (ticking Alpamayo, Amadablam, Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Elbrus, Ararat and Mt. Blanc of course, to name a few) Climbing, skiing, hiking, or just watching them – everything goes.
Been also working as a mountain & ski travel leader, helping others reach their dreams too. And I simply believe that mountains make everyone a better person, on so many levels.
Have some mountain plans? Let's go!
Want to get in contact with me?Send me an E-Mail ;-)
Sam... what do you like better: Summer or Winter?
Definitely both. Going for a hike in summer and enjoying snowy landscapes with snowshoes. Want to join a tour?
Some of our Gruppenbetreuer are out and about: Travelling around the world, pursueing their dreams, taking care of their new born family members or taking a sabbatical. During their time off, their hear is still beating for the IMG. Interested to know who we are talking about? Find them below this text!
An overnight hike in the Grand Canyon is what changed my life: I first fell in love with mountaineering!
Since that hike, I do a little bit of everything, but favor canyoning, via ferratas, and riding my mountain bike or doing multi-day tours on my touring bike. There is just something about a good physical challenge paired with some fresh mountain air, and a sprinkle of sunshine, that pushes me toward the mountains almost every weekend.
I've grown up in the bavarian alps and have always been very passionate about the mountains. Over the years, I have learned to respect the mountains in many ways.
In summer I do mostly long multi-day treks, trailrunning and all kinds of via ferratas. In winter I like extended splitboarding tours. When the weather is too bad (hardly ever ;-)), I do a lot of Yoga and also like bouldering and running.
I want to get more into high-alpine touring, multi-day-splitboard-tours and climbing. Interested?
