Beschreibung:
Come climb long weekend in Arco / Gardasee! Transport: ideally two vehicles, we'll be 8 people in total. I have three spots potentially available in a rented car. We either rent or people have a vehicle and can share a ride. Train is also an option but tricky for getting around. Food and accommodation: we have rented a place in Arco proper, at a cost of 700 euros for the whole stay, amounting for less than 100 eur / person for the full occupancy. Apartment is equipped with kitchen, we aim to cook with possibility of going out for good italian food! Aim is to share cooking duties as well. Please understand in event of cancellation and not finding replacement we ask you to contribute for the cost.

A variant of the Wiener Höhenweg, snaking through the Hohe Tauern Nationalpark from the foot of the Glocknergruppe deep into Osttirol and the Schobergruppe. Far enough into the mountains to leave the hustle and bustle (and the day hikers) behind, each day has approx 1000 hm and 10 km, hiking from hut to hut through some truly breathtaking scenery. We will also take public transport to/from the hike (plus some taxi), so one thing less to worry about.
The majority of the hike is T2/T3; however, there are short sections that are cabled and some need hands. Day 1: 1160 m ascent, 890 m descent, 10.1 km (Glocknerstrasse to Glocknerhaus) Day 2: 960m/430m, 10.5 km (Glocknerhaus to Glorerhütte) Day 3: 820m/1140m, 10.4 km, (Glorer Hütte to Elberfelder Hütte) Day 4: 1100m/940m, 10.3 km (Elberfelder Hütte to Wangenitzseehütte) Day 5: 200m/780m, 8.3 km (Wangenitzseehütte to Winklerner Hütte), optional extras on each day

Sa., 31.08–So., 01.09.2024
This difficult, adventurous tour across the Steinernes Meer in Berchtesgaden National Park is a highlight for fans for difficult hikes. Offering spectacular views over the National Park, the Funtenseetauern (2578m) stands alone in the Karst plateau of the Steinernes Meer. On Saturday morning, we will cross the Königsee by ferry and hike for 3.15 hrs to the Wasseralm, where we will stay the night. Early the next morning, we will begin our 10 hour crossing of the Steinernes Meer in the alien, moon-like landscape of the Karst plateau. We will summit the Funtenseetauern (2578m) and then descend to the Kaerlinger Haus to eat. Most importantly, we must catch the last ferry back from St Bartholema.
T4-5. Similar to the Watzmann in terms of necessary condition. Has exposed sections, steep terrain and climbing to grade I. The terrain is a giant limestone plateau with no shade. Condition for up to 10 hours with 1350m up/2160m down.
