Do you like mountains and climbing them? Are you an English-speaker … looking for company to go to the mountains? Do you want to go there with internationals or other ex-pats?
If you have answered at least one question with yes: Great! Then why don’t you join the IMG of DAV Section Munich! We plan to "walk the talk" and discuss activities starting with a summer’s hike, continuing by via ferrata and finally ending up in the snow doing glacier- and ski-tours, too.
So we are a group of true alpine allrounders!

The "International Mountaineering Group" (IMG) is a division of the Munich section of the Deutscher Alpenverein DAV. With regard to all advertised tours and any other joint activities – unless otherwise described – are events from the Sektion München des DAV e. V.
The tours described in the program are joint ventures are not to be viewed as guided tours. The named contact person will voluntarily take care of any organizational requirements (meeting place/date/time etc.). This person is not responsible for the supervision of the group and for that reason each participant needs to judge his/her mountaineering capabilities for him/herself. Each participant is responsible for themselves.
Participants of these tours must be members of the DAV-Section Munich or a Plus-Member of the Section Oberland. By way of exception, members of other DAV sections or non-members may, for a nominal charge of € 2,50 per day, participate. For these first-timers, please be aware that no ASS insurance is offered/included.

We meet at the entrance (Treff Punkt) or directly inside for the late comers, climb together and afterwards have some snack/drink and maybe make some weekend plans. Come alone, or agree on a climbing buddy, everything goes. The event is not a course, we don't provide any training! Be honest about your skills when you're about to climb with someone new! Let's experience the remote Karwendel in its glory. A demanding hike with scrambling sections to the rocky ridge far above Scharnitz. First day: Approach to Pfeishütte from Scharnitz: https://mapy.com/s/fokuretuva Optional: afternoon hike to Pfeiser Spitze (2347 m) https://mapy.com/s/gopumanefo Second day: We will do one of the peaks in the area: Westliche Praxmarkerspitze(T5, II scramble) Kaskarspitze (T4, I-II scramble) Sontagkarspitze (T5, II scramble) Hintere Bachofenspitze(T5, II scramble) Descent: 1. We go back to Scharnitz 2. Hike from the hut to the Berg or Intermediary station of the Innsbruck Nordkette gondola and go down. From the Innsbruck Hbf we grab the Regional train to Kufstein and after the BRB to Munich.

DAV Haus Spitzingsee has recently been reopened! One topic still open after renovation is to improve the trail from the house to the lake — currently a rough path through the forest. This activity is supported by a donation we have received, which helps fund our contribution to the project. Besides one day of hands-on teamwork, we'll have several IMG 10 year anniversary hikes to enjoy the beauty of the Spitzingsee region on a scenic mountain hike. We have spots reserved at DAV Haus Spitzingsee for staying overnight and enjoy a hike on the second day. Cost for accommodation will be covered by DAV Munich.

Please ensure you select the hike you wish to attend. We will start from the Fischhausen-Neuhaus train station and hike to Brecherspitz via the Dürnbachwand and Schlierseespitz summits. From Brecherspitz we will descend to Obere Firstalm for some refreshments. We are celebrating 10 years of IMG together with various hikes that end at Oberefirstalm where we will meet together for cake and coffee/beer. Please ensure you select the hike you wish to attend. We will start from Fischhausen-Neuhaus Bahnhof and hike to Breckerspitz. We will head south to walk via the Josefstalerwasserfälle then head up the Ostgrat (some scrambling - T4) to reach the Breckerspitz. We will descend down to Oberefirstalm to join with other teams for refreshements. The hike back is likely to be the vorstrasse back to Spitzingsattel to take the bus to the bahn, however, we may hike back over Bodenschneid to the east and then north to Neuhaus (weather and time dependent) Route: https://mapy.com/s/mugedudumu

The one and only annual Christmas party of IMG! We meet once more before the end of 2024 at KBH and celebrate together. As it's a Christmas challenge, we talk gifts as well, we will carry out our annual White Elephant challenge! What do you need to take part in the Christmas party? - Bring drinks / food. We self catter the event. More coordination will happen closer to the date but anticipate to be asked to bring one or another of your choice. - The gift: do you have an outdoor item you no longer use and can be passed on? Great! This is what we aim for. Bring an outdoor themed wrapped gift which will enter the challenge. If you have nothing at home, you're free to buy something of 10-15 euro value. Being in nature was always a huge part of my life and with it came the love for the mountains. Especially the snowy, glaciated ones. I love winter and snow and I'll do my best to ski as many days as physically possible every winter! Freeride, skill polishing on piste, skitouring, you name it. In summer I'll switch skis for rope and preferably a trad rack and hit some amazing climbing spots.
I'm from America and was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. I love all seasons in the Alps. My favorite summer tours are high alpine hikes and via ferrata. In the winter, I like freeride and ski mountaineering.

I'm from the UK, but have spent most of my life having all of my summers in the Alps. So I decided to move closer! I enjoy walking, via feratta, scrambling, climbing, trail running and skiing (or attempting to!)
Adventure begins when you walk out your front door. Like a lot of IMG members I moved to Munich to be close to the mountains and opportunities to climb, ski, bike, and kayak and a well connected international airport.
Growing up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia as a kid I spent my summers camping, hiking and canoeing. These adventures led me to rock climbing, mountain biking and whitewater kayaking and to a job as whitewater raft guide. Along the way I also started skiing and mountaineering.
My outdoor adventures started as a student in Stellenbosch, South Africa with trail running and exploring the surrounding Jonkershoek-valley. In 2018 I started bouldering, then sport climbing and eventually trad climbing. After moving to Munich in 2023 I have also gotten sunburnt on glaciers, fallen down many times on the kiddies ski-slopes and gotten screaming barfies whilst ice climbing.
Life is better in the mountains! You'll find me in the winter getting up at the crack of dawn, ski touring to a peak and watching the sun rise. In the summer, I'll be on my bike, riding mountain passes or finding new trails. I enjoy the physical challenge of both sports and the speedy, swooping downhills as a reward. Aside from this, I enjoy the peacefulness of hiking, the excitement of via ferrata, the freedom of the occasional trail run and even the adrenaline from galloping horses across a valley ground. Every season brings something new and I'm always happy to be with friends in the mountains.
Mountains are always calling me. I discovered the high hills big time in Scandinavian Lappland, and been busy ever since: I have been travelling or living in the Alps, Dolomites, Andes, Himalayas, Lyngen Alps and Caucasus (ticking Alpamayo, Amadablam, Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Elbrus, Ararat and Mt. Blanc of course, to name a few) Climbing, skiing, hiking, or just watching them – everything goes.
Been also working as a mountain & ski travel leader, helping others reach their dreams too. And I simply believe that mountains make everyone a better person, on so many levels.
I've started out with alpine climbing and mountaineering as a kid and during my studies I dove more into the world of bouldering, in- and outdoors. As it is, I like climbing in all its facets, so you can contact me for anything from indoor bouldering sessions, over via-ferratas to alpine multi-pitch climbing and back to IFSC competition climbing (following, not participating ;)).
Otherwise, I also enjoy running and hiking and would like to get better at ski-touring/get started with split-boarding.
